About the The Crew shelf
The robots are the hardware. These four are the reason the hardware exists. Each figure stands around nine inches, is colour-locked to its pilot, and carries the light and sound of that pilot's suit without needing a battery pack swapped in.
Multi-joint bodies mean the figures can be posed next to a transforming robot at roughly the right scale, which is what children actually do with them — the pilot goes in front of the vehicle and the episode gets replayed on the floor.
Colour is the fastest way to pick: red is Lucio, yellow is Delby, green is Oz, blue is Jaymin. Children who watch the series will not need the colours explained to them.
The The Crew shelf and the Dino-Earth mission
The shelf came second. Quantum Heroes Dinoster is an original series from FunnyFlux Entertainment in South Korea, distributed in China by Alpha Group and backed by the Educational Dinoster System. The hi-tech system the series invented is why the The Crew shelf looks engineered rather than sculpted.
Four kids and a gate that closes
The premise is small enough for a five-year-old: four kids travel to Dino-Earth, a parallel dimension where dinosaurs never went extinct, and protect them from whatever is about to go wrong.
Lucio, Oz, Delby and Jay Min make up the team, and every one of the four kids is locked to a single Dinoster:
- Lucio — Raptor Dinoster, red suit
- Oz — Stego Dinoster, green suit
- Delby — Ankylo Dinoster, yellow suit
- Jay Min — Ptera Dinoster, blue suit
Professor Laura is the teacher of the group: she teaches the team what it is looking at, while the hi-tech quantum suits and the transforming vehicles do the rest of the work.
What the crew is up against
The villain is Bex Hunter, a rogue scientist who presses dinosaurs by turning them into cybernetic Armorsaurs, season after season. Taking a dinosaur back from him is the mission, and the The Crew shelf is one of the mighty builds a child joins it with when the danger shows up on a carpet.
Episodes where the crew line shows up
Each episode is a little over eleven minutes long; the full run is three seasons and seventy-eight episodes. The crew episodes to watch alongside the The Crew shelf:
- Welcome to Dino Earth Part 1
- Raptor Roddy Goes to School
- Welcome to Dino Earth Part 2
- Lucio's Dino-Mite Transformation
- Dino-Sitting: The Toughest Mission of All
- Something's Off with Oz
What happens across the three seasons
Welcome to Dino Earth is where it starts; the Super Dino Suit is the mid-run upgrade; a Carnotaurus teleports through a school in the loudest eleven minutes of the run. Around those sit a baby raptor rescue, a pterosaur egg, a dino dentist, a living fossil fuss, a magnetic Mononykus and a giant Iguanadon migration.
The animals on the other side of the gate
What makes the line easy to explain is that the dinosaurs are species a child can look up. A Triceratops is a Triceratops, a Brachiosaurus is a giant, and the T-Rex is the one the villain will not leave alone. Part of what the series has put on screen:
- Diplodocus
- Pachycephalosaurus
- Titanoboa
- Brachiosaurus
- Stegosaurus
- Tyrannosaurus Rex
- Plesiosaurus
- Hatzegopteryx
What the team actually does with an animal
Every episode keeps the same shape: the team studies the animal, learns what it needs, takes the danger off the table and is home for tea. Nobody makes a mighty speech about it. The English dub keeps the names the original used, so an animal called a Triceratops in one country is a Triceratops in the next, and saving it is the only win. Magnetic dinosaurs, a baby raptor at school, a pterosaur egg and a giant Titanoboa — the episode list is odder than the boxes let on.
Watch first, then pick a robot
In the United States the series went out in English on YouTube from 28 August 2023, a season behind the original South Korea run earlier that summer. Watch first, then pick: a child who has seen the episode already knows what the The Crew shelf is supposed to do.
Transforming dinosaur robot toys on the Quantum Heroes Dinoster shelf
Pick by step count, not by size. A two-mode robot is run from memory within days; three modes make the child choose a shape; the four-mode build is a set of vehicles that happens to assemble.
The Quantum Heroes Dinoster line at a glance
The line is easy to summarise: transforming dinosaur robot toys taken from a series about four kids, a professor and a parallel Earth full of dinosaurs. Sizes run from five to sixteen inches, the material is moulded ABS, and batteries are not part of it.
